Brush Fire Permit InformationSection 8-3 of the Woodbury City Code requires a person to obtain a burning permit prior to having a brush fire. There is no charge for permits. Brush fires are allowed to a maximum of 6 feet in diameter and are limited to daylight hours only. Pieces to be burned shall not exceed 4 inches in diameter. For larger pieces, alternative usage, such as fireplace burning or chipping, is encouraged. Only natural wood may be burned. Treated or painted wood, plastic, rubber, leaves and grass are not allowed. Brush fires are limited to property owners of single-family homes. No commercial burning is allowed. Any time the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources issues a burning ban that includes the Woodbury area, all burning permits are cancelled until the ban is lifted. Brush fire permit forms are available on the city's Web site. Completed forms should be faxed to the Fire Department at (651) 714-3708 or returned in person to the Public Safety Building, 2100 Radio Drive, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Please use the entrance marked "Police." Requests should be made at least 24 hours in advance. A permit may be issued for up to three days at a time. A site inspection will be conducted prior to issuance of a brush fire permit. A signed copy of the permit must be retained by the home owner. This policy does not pertain to recreational fires. For more information on recreational fires, visit the recreational fire page.
