Tours and Event Visits

The public can tour the Public Safety Building or any of the city's four fire stations upon request. Police officers and firefighters also are available to provide public education at personal events, such as Scout troop meetings, block parties, etc.

Submit a request online
To request a tour of the Public Safety Building or one of the city's four fire stations, or to request that a police officer or firefighter visit your event, simply submit a request at least two weeks in advance using the online Citizen Service Request System.

Confirmation of requests
Staff will respond to requests at least seven days before the requested event date. (Some requested dates/times will not be available due to staff limitations.) If you would like to cancel, reschedule, or update a previously submitted request, or RSVP for a public education event, send an e-mail to our event scheduler.

Request guidelines
All requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis for how each request helps us meet our prevention education goals.

Things we do in public education:

  • Minnesota Night to Unite block parties (formerly National Night Out) and other block parties throughout the year
  • Fire station open houses throughout the year including the annual Fire Prevention Week open houses held in early October and on Halloween
  • Fire and Police station tours for large groups of 20 to 50 people (or multiple small groups arranged on the same date/time)
  • School visits (classrooms and “spray kids” truck demos during the summer)
  • Business events with public outreach

Things we don’t do in public education:

  • Birthday parties
  • Fill swimming pools
