Building Permit Information - Swimming Pool Requirements
Pool Permit Application
Must Include The Following Information
- Size, shape and type of pool.
- Setbacks to property lines, building, decks, etc. Minimum setbacks are: 10 feet to property lines, 6 feet to buildings and 6 feet to decks.
- Temporary fence location, type of fencing, height of fencing, size and type of posts, spacing of posts, and length of time temporary fence will be used. Temporary fencing may be installed with approval of the building official for not more than 30 days. Four-foot snow fencing with posts not more than 8 foot on center is acceptable for temporary fence. Plastic mesh fencing is not acceptable as temporary fencing. Fence must be installed before filling pool.
- Location and design of permanent fence. Fences must be at least 4 feet high, with a self-closing, self- latching lockable gate, built so that a 4-inch sphere cannot pass through.
- Name, address and phone number of fence installer.
Other Requirements
- Backflow preventers are required on hose bib(s) or outside faucet.
- Inspections are required for footings, electrical or gas heaters, gas piping and final.
- Call for inspections in the order listed on Inspection Record Card.
- Call for final inspection after pool and permanent fence is complete.
- Contractor shall not use bike path(s) or drive over other properties to gain access to pool area.
