"Mame" centers around a vivacious woman living in 1920s New York City. Mame has a fabulous, bohemian life full of artsy friends and activities. How will her life change as her orphaned nephew Patrick comes to live with her as the Great Depression begins? Mame tackles these new challenges with great humor and fun musical numbers.

Starring in the role of Mame for the second time is local actor Marcie Berglund. Young Patrick is played by Joey Engh and Samuel Ellis. Teenage Patrick is local Woodbury High School student Alex Bartlett. Lenore Weir is director for the second time.

Foreclosure Counseling and Information Workshops

The Washington County Library and the Washington County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) are offering free foreclosure counseling and information workshops to anyone who wants to ask questions and get advice from trained foreclosure prevention counselors.

Anyone who is behind on their mortgage, is worried about keeping up with mortgage payments, or wants to know more about the foreclosure process should attend the workshops. Anyone worried about foreclosure should seek help immediately, as waiting may limit options.

The workshops are open houses; no pre-registration is required. The workshop will include a 45-minute presentation summarizing the foreclosure process. Participants will also have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with a foreclosure prevention counselor. It will help the counselor to respond to any concerns participants have if they bring the following any communication received from a lender or loan servicer, proof of income (e.g. recent pay stub), and a copy of the mortgage statement.

Workshops are scheduled for the following dates, times and locations:

  • 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 10, Wildwood Library, 763 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi
  • 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 13, Bayport Public Library, second floor meeting room, 582 North Fourth Street, Bayport
  • 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, Hardwood Creek Library, 19955 Forest Road North, Forest Lake

"The value in speaking to a county foreclosure prevention counselor is identifying options," said Barbara Dacy, executive director of the HRA. "More than 60 percent of households that have worked with one of the prevention counselors in 2009 have avoided foreclosure."

Residents need not wait for the workshops to act. For more information or to speak with a foreclosure prevention counselor immediately, call the Washington County HRA’s foreclosure intake line at (651) 458-0936 ext. 542 or visit www.wchra.com.
