Watering Restrictions and ConservationThe Woodbury City Council believes it is important for the city to be a good steward of our natural resources, including water. Since 1987, the city has had an odd/even lawn watering policy to limit the amount of water the city takes from underground aquifers through its wells, as well as to minimize the chance of shortfalls during times of peak water use. In 2001, the Council reaffirmed the odd/even policy and banned lawn watering altogether between noon and 5 p.m. every day. The Council also raised the rates charged for residential water use that exceeds 30,000 gallons in any three-month period and for commercial lawn watering that exceeds 3,000 gallons in a single month. The Environmental Advisory Commission also sponsors programs and workshops to encourage residents to follow lawn care and landscaping practices that conserve water. These include the Model Lawn project, Environmental Landscape workshops, and Alternative Landscape tour.
