As development continues in the City of Woodbury, protecting the environment, especially our wetlands and lakes, is a priority. The city employs an environmental planner and environmental resources coordinator who review development applications and monitor compliance with federal and state environmental regulations. Lakes and wetlands are important natural resources in Woodbury. The city has implemented a number of programs to ensure their protection and to control the storm water that flows into them. One of the programs is the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Program. The city is committed to reducing, reusing and recycling products in our community. Accordingly, all trash haulers must provide curbside recycling service in addition to trash pickup. For information on materials that can be recycled visit the Garbage and Recycling page. The Environmental Advisory Commission, composed of nine Woodbury residents, advises the City Council on policy matters relevant to sustainability issues. Areas of focus include solid waste, air, water, land, energy and other natural resources. The EAC also serves as a forum for the citizens of Woodbury to voice their opinions regarding environmental issues. Openings on the commission are filled annually. |
