Appointment of Police Officers |
Due to a resignation and retirements of Police Officers, the city posted to hire three Police Officers. The City received applications and conducted a thorough review of the application materials submitted. After interviewing the top candidates, staff recommends the appointment of Brett Roddy to the position of Police Officer, effective January 10, 2013, Garrett Kissner to the position of Police Officer effective January 11, 2013 and Caitlin Jaworski to the position of Police Officer effective January 14, 2013.
Staff recommends the City Council adopt the attached resolution appointing Brett Roddy to the non-exempt position of Police Officer effective January 10, 2013, Garrett Kissner to the non-exempt position of Police Officer effective January 11, 2013 and Caitlin Jaworski to the non-exempt position of Police Officer effective January 14, 2013.
The appointment is filling current vacancies.
Mr. Roddy graduated with an AAS degree in law enforcement in 2008 from Alexandria Technical College and is on the National Registry as an EMT. He has been employed as a Police Officer for the City of Mankato since 2008. Additionally, he has worked as a Paid-on-Call Firefighter/EMT for the Columbia Heights Fire Department for over 5 years.
His starting salary shall be $24.00 (Step A) per hour and shall be increased according to the established pay plan as approved by City Council. He will be required to serve a one (1) year probationary period.
Mr. Kissner graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement from Metropolitan State University in 2012. He is currently attending Concordia University in the pursuit of his Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Leadership. He has been employed as a Community Service Officer with the City of Woodbury since 2009 and also serves as a Reserve Officer.
His starting salary shall be $24.00 (Step A) per hour and shall be increased according to the established pay plan as approved by City Council. He will be required to serve a one (1) year probationary period.
Ms. Jaworski graduated with her law enforcement certificate from St. Cloud State University in 2011. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Minnesota. She has been employed as a Forensic Service – Intake lead for Corner House since 2009. She also serves as a Reserve Officer with the Bayport Police Department.
Her starting salary shall be $24.00 (Step A) per hour and shall be increased according to the established pay plan as approved by City Council. She will be required to serve a one (1) year probationary period.
