SUMMARY
Due to the budgeted addition of this position, the city posted the police officer position. The city received numerous applications and conducted a thorough review of the application materials submitted. After interviewing forty-five candidates, staff recommends the appointment Yvette Tillery to the position of Police Officer, effective March 10, 2005.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council adopt the attached resolution appointing Yvette Tillery to the non-exempt position of Police Officer, effective March 10, 2005.
BUDGET IMPACT
The appointment is filling a 2005 budgeted position addition.
BACKGROUND
Ms. Tillery holds a bachelors degree from Mankato State University in Law Enforcement and is currently a police officer in Mendota Heights. She has been with Mendota Heights for eleven years, working in both patrol and investigations. She previously was a police officer for the Metropolitan Airports Commission for three years.
Her starting salary shall be $24.88 per hour and shall be increased according to the established pay plan as approved by City Council. Her appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check, drug test, physical examination and psychological examination. In addition, she will be required to serve a one (1) year probationary period.
